We all love that one-of-a-kind vintage piece from our grandparents. That one piece passed down for generations and carrying significant sentimental value. The signet ring is a great example of such a piece. Let's delve into vintage finds and what we offer.
What does vintage jewelry mean?
Vintage jewelry refers to pieces of jewelry that are at least 20 years old, but typically from the 1920s to 1980s. These pieces often have distinctive styles and characteristics that reflect the design trends of the era in which they were created. Vintage jewelry can include various types of accessories such as rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and brooches.
How do we source it?
Most of our vintage jewelry is 9k gold and sourced from UK-based specialized vintage sellers. The number of carats is always checked by our goldsmith, as well as the quality of the gemstones. The gold is carefully polished and brought back to its original shiny state. We ensures that each piece meets our standards for quality and authenticity.
Vintage finds
Did you score a vintage find and wonder how to check its quality? Ask an expert jeweler to inspect it for you. We collaborate with goldsmith Roestvry for a purity assessment. Gold is examined using acid testing. This process involves applying nitric acid to a small scratch made on the gold item. The reaction of the acid with the gold can help determine its purity. Different concentrations of acid are used for different gold carats.
Recycle your vintage
Do you own a piece that you're not wearing? Vintage pieces you inherit but don't wear are never a waste. You can choose to turn the gold into a new design you actually like. By reusing the material, you retain the sentimental value. This can be quite a costly process, as it's labor-intensive, but worthwhile.
